Our Mission

Two wordsYour Success.

Pacific Northwest Regional VBOC’s mission is to support veterans, transitioning service members – and their spouses with end-to-end support for long-term success. We serve Northern California, Oregon and Washington.

With the help of partners like the U.S. Small Business Administration, we’re achieving our mission by engaging veteran entrepreneurs and providing mentorship, business training, and strategic resources to bolster growth and successfully navigate the winding road of entrepreneurship.

Our Team

The Locations We Serve

The Pacific Northwest Regional VBOC (formerly NorCal VBOC) coordinates and facilitates the Boots to Business program held at military installations across Northern California, Oregon and Washington. This includes regular programming at  Naval Air Station Lemoore, Naval Support Activity Monterey, Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, Travis Air Force Base, Fairchild AFB, JB Lewis-McChord, NAS Whidbey Island, Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor, USCG Base Seattle. These programs are taught by staff members from the VBOC and the SBA District Offices alongside strategic SBA Resource Partners including SBDC, SCORE, and Women’s Business Centers (WBC).

There are 31 VBOCs nationwide, including three distinct locations serving California and the surrounding regions: the Pacific Northwest Regional VBOC at Cal Poly Humboldt (servicing Northern California, Oregon, and Washington); the SoCal VBOC at MiraCosta Community College District in Cardiff, California and the Los Angeles Regional VBOC at Long Beach City College in Long Beach, California.

VBOC History

Following a 1999 law to promote veteran participation in the entrepreneurship and small business field, the Small Business Association created and established a number of VBOCs. We help strengthen our client’s business by providing education and resources, with the understanding that military service has set-up veterans to be fine entrepreneurs.

VBOC Training and Services

Our Boots to Business (B2B) training is designed to equip you with the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to launch a business. B2B outlines the steps for developing business concepts, establishing a business plan, and shares information on SBA resources available to you. VBOC’s Boots to Business trainings are provided at no cost, with no strings attached.

VBOC’s consulting services are free, and we offer one-on-one consulting with clients. Our consultants have been entrepreneurs, were in the military or closely related to the military, have worked in various industries, and have a wide range of education and skills to assist with almost any type of business venture.

No matter what stage your small business is in, whether it’s a concept or you’re ready for expansion, our experts work with entrepreneurs day in and day out – they see what’s working and what’s not and can offer you the perspective, clarity, and guidance you need.

Our services are provided through a partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and a vast number of local community partners as well. We encourage you to check out our calendar of training and sign up for services today! The VBOC could mean the difference between success or failure – sign up
