The Shasta-Cascade Small Business Development Center (SBDC), in partnership with the Small Business Administration (SBA), Caltrans District 2, NorCal Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC), and NorCal APEX Accelerator, is pleased to announce the launch of the NorCal Procurement Fair & Workshop Series.
This series of workshops is designed to prepare small businesses for the complexities of state and federal contracting, culminating in the NorCal Procurement Fair on October 16th, 2024.
Workshop Series Highlights:
Starting on September 18th, 2024, the Workshop Series will provide small businesses with critical insights and tools needed to navigate the government procurement system successfully. Each workshop is tailored to address specific challenges and opportunities within the contracting process:
September 18 – First Steps to Doing Business with the Federal Government This course will provide attendees with the steps needed to complete their preliminary registrations needed to do Federal contracting. Course content will include setting up a “login.gov” account, requesting a Universal Entity Identifier (UEI Number), registering in the System for Award Management (SAM.gov) and requesting a Commercial and Government Entity Code (CAGE Code). Attendees will leave the course with good tips and tricks to ensure these registrations are seamless.
September 25 – Federal & State Government Contracting Join us for this informative workshop as we provide you an introduction on what is involved with getting started with State and Federal Government contracting. Topics to be discussed include identifying your industry and getting registered, small business certifications and eligibility with an emphasis on Veteran-owned businesses, marketing to the Federal and State Government, finding contracting opportunities, regulations, and resources available to assist.
October 2 – Federal and State Small Business Certifications
This session will provide an in-depth discussion of the specific eligibility criteria required to qualify for small business certifications as well as the registration process for the following: Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) – federal Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB) – federal Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) – state Woman Owned and Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) (EDWOSB) – federal 8(a) Small Business – federal HUBZone small business – federal Small Business (SB)
October 9 – Business Pitch Development: Sharpen your skills with this Business Pitch Development workshop that includes a presentation on best practices and business pitch development, including marketing, capabilities statement, power speech, and tips for making great first impressions to prepare you to get the most out of your networking experience when you join us for the NorCal Procurement Fair on October 16th.
These workshops are an invaluable resource for small business owners and entrepreneurs looking to gain a foothold in the government contracting arena. Participants will leave with a solid foundation and practical strategies to apply at the upcoming NorCal Procurement Fair.
NorCal Procurement Fair:
Following the Workshop Series, the NorCal Procurement Fair will take place on October 16th, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Win-River Resort & Casino in Redding. This event will bring together local, state, and federal agencies, as well as prime contractors, offering small businesses a unique opportunity to network, build relationships, and explore new contracting opportunities.
