Led by seasoned business consultants and fellow Veteran entrepreneurs, this course is crafted to guide you through the journey of transforming your side gigs into sustainable and successful businesses.

Whether you’re still in the ideation phase or have already launched a side project, this course will provide you with the insights, strategies, and support needed to take your Veteran-led venture to new heights.

About the Presenters

Allen Archuleta

Allen’s professional path has been diverse, including launching and selling two professional services firms, acquiring and revitalizing several businesses and franchises, and imparting wisdom as a Professor of Strategy & Entrepreneurship at Sac State. His efforts have not only been recognized with a Top 40 under 40 award from the Sacramento Business Journal but have also earned him the Community All-Star Award from the Sacramento Kings for significant contributions to his community.

Today, he is committed to leveraging his extensive experience in business strategy, ownership, and consulting to support active duty, Veteran, and military family members in achieving their entrepreneurial dreams. Allen’s role at the NorCal VBOC is complemented by his qualifications as a licensed business broker, business lender, and tax advisor, positioning him uniquely to guide our veterans through the complexities of business ownership and growth.

Darren Gurney
Darren Gurney

Darren is a member of the NorCal VBOC team as a business consultant and trainer. His areas of expertise consist of entrepreneurial development, fiscal management, strategic planning, marketing, and sales. He has an entrepreneurial background in a family manufacturing/retail business, financial and lending experience in the banking industry. He was the Director of the Business and Entrepreneurship center hosted at Shasta College that served 10 northern counties. He currently work as an entrepreneurship instructor for Shasta College in the business department.

With many family members and friends who have or are currently serving in the military, he could not be more excited for the opportunity to serve our Veterans. His goal is to provide any help and resources he can to Veterans who are pursuing their own dreams and goals of starting or growing a business.

Darren received his M.B.A in Management from CSU, Chico and a bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship from CSU, Chico, he is also a licensed realtor.
